"GREAT EXPERIMENT"
MR. BENNETT'S VISION OF SELF CONTAINED EMPIRE Rec. Sept. 6, 9.55 p.m. Calgary, Sept. 5. Speaking here. on Monday night, the Prime Minister, Mr. R. B. Bennett, said that he believed great things would result from the Imperial Conference at Ottawa. He added, however, that only through toil could prosperity be brought baclc, and that only through the true application of capital and labour to the resources of the country, would come the realisation of the dreams of this Dominion. The conference would bring economic unity to tho British commonwealth of nations. "We are going to blaze Che path to progress," he said, "and show the world that it can be done. It is a great experiment." Mr. Bennett also declared that Canada belonged to the Empire family and the family was going to trade within itself so far as it could. His ambition. he said, was to see the Empire realise a prosperity that would defy outside efforts.
