Wellington, Monday. Negligent administration of the ?st-ate of her husband, John Merry, n regard to rent charged for three properties, was the allegation made by Mrs. Alice Merry against the Public Trustee in the Supreme Court. She isserted that the Public Trustee ob.ained grossly inadequate rent for iie propertics, and claimed £299 as iamages. Tho plaintiff's allegations were trongly refuted hy the Public Trustee n his statement of defence. Mr, Jus;ice McGregor suggested that the natter could be more . expeditiously iealt with if submitted to an arbitra,or who was an expert on such questions; the. Court accordingly adjourn•d for a time to enable counsel to > ccnfer. Subsequently it was announced that the case should be adjourned :'or further consideration.
