FUNERAL OF LATE CHIEF OF ARMY NURSES

Wellington, Saturday. A full military funeral was accorded Miss Hester MacLean, form2rly Matron-in-Chief of the New Zealand Army Nursing Service, who died yesterday. The Rev. II. E. K. Fry, Chaplain to the Foi'ces, conducted ihe service at St. Paul's Pro-Cathe-dral and at the crematorium. Captain D. H. Donaldson, New Zealand Staff Corps, represented the General Officer Commanding the New Zealand Militai'y Foi'ces. The pall hearei'S were supplied ty members of the permanent staff. The firing party was under the command of Staff Sergeant-Major Bower and was selected from the permanent staffat Trentham. The funeral was largely attended by all sections of the community and in the body of the church were some fifty military nui-s-ing sisters who served with the forces during the war.
