TRUST PROVIDES BIG SUM IN SQUTH AFRICA
Rugby, September 2. Immediate effect is being given to the provisions of the Beit Trust, under which £50,000 is to be devoted to the improvement of air communication in Africa. Over £10,000 has already been ear-max-ked for immediate tasks in Northern and Southern Rhodesia, along the route followed by Imperial Airways in their flights with passengers, mails and freight over the Cairo and Capetown sections of the air mail which connects South Africa with England. Immediate work includes the provision of new alighting grounds and the enlargement and improvement of existing aerodromes, and careful attention is being p-aid to improving the facilities for wireless communication between aircraft and land stations, and also to the development of a tele- . phonie sei'vice between the air stations or between the aerodrome and towns or cities.
