IMPROVING
TRAVELLER'S IMPRESSIONS ' OF BUSINESS AFTER TOUR. Wellington, Wednesday. Definite signs of a general improve- ■ ment in trade are noted by the representative of a large manufacturing firm in Wellington who has recently made a round tour of the North Island, and has also visited the main centres in the South Island. In the course of his travels he has been in touch with business firms of all kinds, and occasionally with primary producers. The amount of business done exceeded his exp'ectations, said this busi- ^ nessman to The Dominion. Those indications were more manifest in the provinces than in Wellington, and the cheerful tone, especially in the Taranaki district, was most encouraging. "The results of the Ottawa Conference have cr^ated inereased confidence in Taranaki, and the primary produoers in that area are most hopeful in regard to the future," he said. In the South Island the business done was quite encouraging, in spite of the fact that in some centres competition was keen. If goods and prices are right there is increasing business to be done in many lines.
