Rec. Sept. 3, 5.0 p.m. New York, August 31. Mr. J. A. Mollison ,the aviator, later confirmed the nows given out by his wife (nee Miss Amy Johnson) in London that he has abandoned the flight and will leave to-morrow by 'plane for Quebec, whence he sails on September 3 by the Empress of Britain for England. Colonel Freeman McNeill, M.D., with whom Mr. Mollison is staying, said he could not recommend the flier to continue his Atlantic flight without at least three or four weelcs' rest. An earlier message from Nova Scotia, eredited Mollison with saying. when questioned whether he would accede to the requests of his Avife anc friends to ahandon the return Atlan- - tic flight: "It will (lepend largely or r h'ow I feel after a further rest here. 1 ' have been strongly influenced hy cab- • les from my wife and Lord Wakei field, but the decision will depend or ■ liow I feel.
