NOXES ON THE PLAY TEAMS CH0SEN AGAINST THAMES, OPOTIKI AND AUCKLAND. FORTHCOMING FIXTURES

Fixtures of important matches during tba next few weeks are as follows: — September 9. — Rotorua v. Training College (at Auckland). September 9. — Rotorua (B) v. Thames (at Thames). September 14. — Rotorua v. Opotiki (at Opotiki). September 17. — H.S.O.S. (A) v. Waratah (local game). September 24. — Rotorua v. Matamata (at Rotorua). H.S.O.S. (A) v. Kowhai. This was an exciting game and an excellent exhibition to watch. F. Bates opened the score by shooting tlie first goal for High School, and it was only a few minutes later that J. Isdale scored ths second. Kowhai's centre then gained Fossession of the ball, sending it swiftly down to their forwards, who soon finished .off by scoring. Another good attempt at scoring by Kowhai was marred by H. Dawson, who smartly intercepted and gaining possession, sent it back to High School's forwards. At this early stage J. Prenter (Kowhai) unfortunately tripped and sprained her ankle. After a few minutes' rest she was able to continue. High School gained i another two goals, but it was not long i before Kowhai 'evened the score to ? four all. After much liard work, High School managed to gain the lead, and although Kowhai fought very hard to catch their opponents, they were unable to do so before the final whistle. Had Kowhai not been handicapped by being one player short, there is no doubt that their score would have been much higlier. Score: H.S.O.S. (A), 16; Kowhai, 9. Waratah v. H.S.O.S. (B) This game was even in the opening stag'es, but through speedy passing and keen anticipation work, Waratah soon gained the lead. Individual work by Old Students was good, but they lacked the necessary dash required to score from good passing from dofence to forwards. They worked very hard, often securing the ball before their opponents, only to lose it again by faulty nassirg. M. Owens proved her ability by being able to take any position on the fi dd at a moment's notice. In the centre base in this game she was easily the fastest worker. The game endxd: Waratah, 20; H.S.O.S. (B), 7. Ngongotaha v. Kiwi At the eleventh hour Ngongotaha were unable to gather a team together, so the decision went to Kiwi. Rep. Teams.
