ATMOSPHERE OF TENSION WHEN PARLIAMENT RESUMES

Rec. Aug 31, 7.0 p.m. Canberra, Aug. 31. The Federal Parliament resumed today in an atmosphei'e of tension owing to the open hostility of the Country Party, which desires higher exchange and immediate revision of the tariff. Senator Lynch, Western Australia was elected President of the Senate, defeating the former President, Senator ICingsfill.
