CLERK'S CONFESSSION. New York, August 17. George Phalen, for 13 years confidential clerk to Jules Bachs and Company, a leading firm of brokers, called upon his managing-director recently because his conscience troubled him after the theft of £150,000. Phalen did not have a eent of this money left, and his employers were greatly puzzled to know what to do I about him. Phalens chief failing was i to givi tips of £200 to night cluh i singers who could make him weep by J singing Irish songs. To-day Mr. j Bache had him arrested.
