Auckland, Monday. John David Dennis (21), formerly junior clerlt in the office of the Rodney County Couneil, appearcd for sentence to-day after a week in custody, for stealing £50 belonging to the couneil.

The Magistrate said Dennis had been under influence of a superior cfficer, who had tried to shelve the blame on Dennis. Ile would be convicted and plaecd on probation for two years. No ordcr was made for restitution, counsel stating that £50 plus £13 10s wages due to Dennis, had been received in restitution by Dennis' superior offieer, and so far it could not be proved what happened to the money. *
