POLICE RETICENT UPON DUNEDIN GIRL'S STATEMENT

Dunedin, Saturday. The police are extremely reticient as to th-e allegation made by a girl of assault and robbery in a George Street shop. They confirm the report that Dr. Falconer found no injury to the girl's head. A report telegraphed from Dunedin on Thursday was to the effect that a daring robbery with violence occurred at 11 a.m. in the order receiving office of a coal. merchant. A girl was stated to have passed through the door to the back of the premises and, on re-entering, received a stunning blow on the head from a man of whom she caught but a glimpse. Although several shops face this one nobody noted anythixig suspicious, and it was two minutes before the girl recovered sufficiently to report the affair. About £19 in money was taken from the till.
