(Press. Assn.-
-By Telegraph — Copyright).
Rec. Aug. 28, 5.5 p.m. London, August 27. There is little hope of an immediate settlement of the cotton strike although the cost will be £1,500,000 weekly. Mr. Hamer, chairman of the employers, declares that if the strike continues more mills will close and hundreds of operatives will never get work again. Both sides admit that the strike will do incalculable harm, but neither will shift ground.
