The Rotorua Borough Council decided on Wednesday night that an area of approximately four acres of the town belt and approximately two acres of the cemetery reserve be sown in potatoes, the work to be carried out as far as possible by relief labour. It is proposed that the crop be sold in order to reimburse the council the amount advanced last year for the potatoes which were sown for use of unemployed worlcers. On account of the ruling of the Unemployment Board that all relief workers must cultivate garden plots, it is anticipated that there will not be the same necessity for potatoes next year.
