CHELTENHAM CHAIRMAN CRITICISES STATE OF FINANCES
— By Telegraph — Copyright).
Feilding, Thursday. Some criticism of the Dairy Board finances was made hy Mr. C. G. C. Denner, chairman of directors of the Cheltenham Co-operative Dairy Company at the annual meeting to-day. Mr. Dermer pointed out that the board's investments and assets since 1926 totalled £87,243, but in 1931 these diminished by £64,436 to £22,807, and probably 1932 will disclose a further serious drop. The levy collected for 1931 totalled £39,366 and the expenditure £47,487 ; of this amount no less than £24,614 was spent in New Zealand in administration and other expenses. As it is out of the question to increase the levy, at the present time, Mr. Dermer says the board will have to seriously curtail its expenses, though not in such a way as to interfere with the expenses of advertising in England.
