FARMERS CLAIM FURTHER RESTRICTIONS ARE PENDING

Christchurch, Wednesday. Road transport of goods is likely to be subjected by the Government to the same eontrol as that at present existing for passenger transport, according to Mr. W. W. Mulhollahd, who at a meeting of the North Canterbury branch of the Farmers Union, launched an attaelc against the principle of regulations for this purpose. He said that he understood that regulations had already been prepared. The following resolution was. car" ried: That the North Canterbury branch of the Farmers Union protest strongly against any tampering by regulations with the natural development of road transport, and that it objects most emphatically to the imposition of any regulations preventing free competition in road transport of goods. A copy of the resolution has been f orwarded to the Dominion Executive and to the Minister of Transport, j As a result of an inquiry by the • Finance Committee of the Union, it ' was decided that a report eoneern- ! ing railway freight of farm produce should be prepared and submitted to the Dominion executive with a view, to a delegation mqeting the Railways • j Board. * A- j • i'i'M
