As a result of the deviation work at present being undertalcen by the Public Works Department on the Ro-torua-Cambridge main highway in the vicinity of Tirau, visitors to Rotorua : were placed in an awkward prediea--ment last Wednesday evening. Apparently the use of heavy lorries on this work, combined with the heavy rains experienced early in the week has resulted in the road surface being badly cut up. The car becan bogged and it was four hours befo. o. Torts to free it were successful.
