HEAVY RAINS

LOWER AREAS FLOODED Heavy falls of rain occurred in the town and country areas on Tuesday evening, two inches being recorded in the borough, the back country fall being still heavier. The Waioeka and Otara Rivers overflowed their banks as a result of the previous two-day's rains and the low lying areas were inundated, but little damage resulted. Several roads in the district were temporarily bloclced by slips and a beneficial rise occurred on the Opotiki bar, which for some months has been in a low state.
