TUNG OIL
BANANA OIL.
(To the Editor.) , Sir, — ^In reply to "Tung Oil Nut," it is gratifying to see some ona who is optimistic. But, at the sarne time, I think I would sooner hear expert opinion on this scheme. Your correspondent states that tung oil is only produced in three countries, namely, China, Florida and New Zealand. It vas only last week that I noticed in :*n Auckland paper, reports from the British Empira Marketing Board con•erning consignments of tung oil from Assam, Kenya, Transvaal and India. Also, I have been told that the tree grows wild in Brazil. In these countries I have just mentioned, labour is very cheap, in faet one can get coloured labour by just finding ;he workers' food. If tung oil was as good as "Tung Oil Nut" thinks, these countries could go in i'or it on a big scale, so what chance would we have here in New Zealand of competing against that mass of cheap labour? — I am, etc., i
