HIKUWAI—ROTOITI MATCH.

T,

. CURTIS.

(To the Editor.) Sir. In your issue of 13th inst. NonWhistler intimated that a match between two teams (Hikuwai-Rotoiti) eoinpiiscd of big, stern men, wdro do not play briiliant football, is always difficult to control. Further down you get this: "Hikuwai are always favourites at Arawa Park." Why are Hikuwai made favourites, bringing the top sentence into the question? It appears to me Non-Whistler is malcing a desperate effort to eover the errors made by the referee, without realising that he is scattsring the •i'rinciples of the players concerned. Perhaps it -may interest NonWhistler to lcnow that the big, stern Hikuwai man that was ordered off, has just passed his teens, and mounts the scale at little over ten stone. Non-Whistler maintained that an excellent interpretation of the rules was given. His statement here gives mo the impression that his qualifications on football rules are very limited. What is his explanation for the behaviour of the spectators in hooting the referee. I am etc.,

Rotoiti 15/8/32.
