REPORT TO ANNUAL MEETING SHOWS STEADY PRGGRESS NEW OFFICEBS ELECTED The annuai meeting oi the Rotorua Girl Guides "was heiu at St. Luke's Hall 011 Thursday, August 11, Mrs. W. S. Wallis, presiuing. There was only a sinai! attondance apart from members of the commiilea. The iinar.cial stateiuent read by Mrs. Campny sho.ved a eredit balance in hand of £4 "3s 9d. The company anu pack reports for the year were presented by Miss Carnachan, Miss Y7 orrn.ll, Miss Lasenby and Miss Snoad. The annual report was then read by Mrs. Wallis as follows:- — During the year much has been done to promote guidlng in Rotorua, though I am sorry io say the membeivnip of the local assoeiation is not as large as it might be. However, I hope tuai will be remedied in the near future as we have had proniises.of new members. Just about a year ago our ranger company was started in Rotorua. It began in a very humble way with a i'ew g'iris, but it has grown and promises to be a great eredit to the guide movemenf, i'or which we must thank Miss Carnachan, whose efforts on behalf of guiding are untiring. The guides have held their own, though the "going up" of guides to rangers has ine.unt the ioss to tlie company of some of its best patroi lf auers. The Ladv Alice Fergusson Cup, which is gaimd for knitting aud sewing, was competed for by the guides. I have much pleasure in showing you some of the garments made by our company. They gained second place in "the competiticn out of ihe whole of the Auckland provii'Oe, which numbers about fifty companies. I am sorry to say that the knitted blanket made by Nancy IL.rrcn is not here. It gained first piave for the whulu of Kew Zc-a-ianu, and wao aftorwards presentet by this committee co Mrs. Vvilson, Cuiti Comimssioner iov New Zealand.
Enjoyable Camp Last J^nuary the RAsional camp was held on Mr. Copeiand Smitn's prope^ty at Te Ngae, fifty guiden and guides attending. In spiie of oue voi.v wet n.ght when several tenis hlew down, and some of the guides roci'h ou a good soaicing, the cair.p was a huge ouccoss, and muci. enjiq ed by the guides. The ten days spent there were full of pleasure aua beneiit to the guides, foi which we niust thunk Miss Wmifrcc Lysnar, oi Gisborne, who was iicliargo and all the other guitlers whv assisieu her in vutious ways. Dur ing last May the tventy -first ar.niversary ot ihe guide movemcnt wa1t c ebraled t'u oughcut the whole of the guide world. On May 29 speciai churc.h services wero heui — all those connected with the gu.ue movement attending. m Kruorua the service was held at St. Luke's Ouurob, wnen rangers, guides and brownies paraded.
