COMPETITIVE TARIFFS
RUGBY, Monday. . The Times states that a plan has been put forward at Ottawa, that for textile and other duties about which an agreement cannot immediately be achieved, the Dominion Governments should accept the principle of a competitive tariff against United Kingdom imports, meaning thereby a scale just sufficient to cover the difference in the costs of production in the United Ringdom and in the Dominions, leaving their manufactures of the same commodities on equal terms,of competition in the Dominion markets. The actual tariff rates, to ensure equality of competition, would he left to the Dominion Tariff boards.
