SCHOOL COMMITTEE

MONTHLY MEETING The monthly meeting of the Opotiki School Committee was held on Tuesday evening. There were present: Messrs A. E. Payne (chairman), W. Anderson, T. H. Pearson, J. Mansell, R. H. Semple, F. Cave, C. Cave (sec.), and the hoadmaster, Mr. F. G. Kibblowhaite. A letter was received from the Tauranga School Comiqittee recording its appiecia.tion of the hospitality shown to the visitors during the recent school tournament. A letter of resignation was received from Miss M. Harding of the Opotiki District High School advising that she had been appointed to Woodville District High School. The secretary was instructed to write a letter of -appreciation to Miss Harding. It was resolved that the committee approve of Mr. F. Alley being permitted to graze sheep in the paddock next to the school grounds, for the purpose of keeping th'e grass down. The commtitee decided to meet in the school grounds at 1 o'cloek on Saturday to inspect the asphalt courts. It was resolved to allot £2 to the school for the purchase of gramophone records. The meeting passed a hearty vote of thanks to Mr. Kibblewhaite and staff for the very able manner in which' they had conducted the tournametnt. 1 '
