Hitchens, S. Shalfoon, J. J. Moody, F. J. Short, J. Main, J. T. Tabb. There was little business of any moment and it appeared as though the meeting would he of brief duration until Cr. Tabb pOinted out that although the council had decided two years ago to put off a man on account of shortage of funds, this had not yet been dome. He wanted to know why. He said that he understood from the minutes that the resolution had been passed. Several councillors 'cxplainsd to Cr. Tabb that it could not he resolved unless all present were unanimous. In reply to a question by Cr. Budcl as to whether he was putting - motion, Cr. Tahb said that this was not necessary as it had been djcided long ago." {I suggest that you are not doing your duty as you have been going to do for the last five or six years," he said. Cr. Shalfoon said he had suggested that the council should ration the work, instead of putting a man off. Cr. Tabb replied that while he was agreeable to this, his ques'A > t. had beeai, "why had council not carried out their decision to dispense with a man when it hjad decided to do so." He did not inten,d to leave the meeting until he was answered. The clerk explained that at at a previous meeting, at which Cr. Tabb had not been present, it had been decided to postpone action for three months. Cr. Tahb: I wish members would be' candid with me and say if they intend to put a man off or not. At the last meeting they postponed it for three months. At the end of that time do they proposei to postpone it again? I asked this same question two years ago, and I am still asking for a decision, but I intend to have the matter settled one way or the othe(r now. After considerable cross talk between councillors, Cr. Hitchens asked his Worship if they wer& to sit there all night allowing one man to rule the meeting. Cr. Tabb: Of course one man should rule a meeting. His Worship1, the Mayor should but he won't. The Mayor then ruled that the decision of three months' postponement should stand. Cr. Tabb: I bow to your ruling, your Worship.
