MONARCHISTS' ABORTIVE ATTEMPT TO GAIN I POWER

Rec. Aug. 11, 1 a.rn. MADRID, Wednesday. A Monarcliists' revolt broke out in the capital at dav/n, but the Governiment's foreknowledge of the revolt minimised its seriousness. An artillery brigade supported the insurgents. Many arrests were made 1 including sons of former members j of the nobility. The rebelo raided the Ministry for Communications and also raided the War Office and were driven out. Communications abroad were cut ofif, but liave since been re-es- I tablished.
