CHRISTCHURCH, Monday. • At Christchurch a request was made to the Minister of Education, j the Hon. R. Masters, by the Technicai j College Board that the eonditipn&ref* j odmission of boys to the Technicai | College should be easect in order to I allow boys now unemployed .to remain at school. • . It was argued 'that it was* ifecessary for the boys' welfhre to protect them from the effeets of idlenfess. The Minister refused to malee any geneiml relaxation of the conditions. He said he would consider generously all applications made in respeet of such boys. He would not be party to any cheese-paring.
