(Press. Assn.-

CAREFUL PREPARATIONS

— By Telegraph — Copyright).

Rec. Aug. 8, 7.0 p.m. LONDON, Monday. The Daily Express says that Mr. J. A. Mollison left Stag Line aerodrome at noon on Tuesday confronted with a dramatic dilemma at the last moment. He had to decide whether he should fly in the dangerous hours of darkness, pliysically fresh, and with his machine full of petrol, or fly into darkness at the end of the trip when he would be tired out, but the machine light and therefore more capable of making a high altitude. Ple says: "I have decided to consider the capabiiities of the machine in pr'eference to the purely physical consideration of my own abiiity to keep awake." He plans to leave Fort Marnock on his two-way Atlantic flight at nine in the morning, fiy throughout the night and reach America about daybreak. He will stay in New York the shortest time possible. He hopes to return in 3S days, Mr. Mollison does not regard the flight as foolhardy, but as carefully though out and planned. He is convinced that the machine, which is called "Heart's Content," is trustworthy, as he has seen what the conscientous British workmen put into it. He will have petrol for 33 hours flying. The Gipsy has three engines with four cylinders, specially constructed to take the load of 165 gallons of petrol. He is taking two compasses.
