CHRISTCHURCH, Friday. Anderson immediately picked it up; unwrapped the paper, and opened the lid. Then the explosive, geiignite, was revealed. Startied, Captaixx Anderson examined the bomb more elosely and found that the maker had contrived a cunning device to set of? the explosive by the movement of the lid of the tin. This improvised mechanism luekily failed to act. Apparently the trigger that was designed to release the spring was clumsily set. T'ha captain put the tin and its dangerous contents aside, mounied a guaid over it. and summoned the police. A detective was sent from the Central Police Station to rnake invesiigations, The tin was of a large varicty of cigarette containers, being of the size to hold about 75 cigarettes. It was tightly with geiignite.
