IN THE SOUTH
CHRISTCHURCH UNDER SNOW CHRISTCHURCH, Friday. The heaviest fall of snow for years was experienced overnight. This morning the ground was covered inches deep. A further heav/y fall' set in at nine o'clock and the indications were that more was to follow. Snow caused slight disorganisation to city transport services early this morning, but the normal schedule was quiekly restored. The ferry steamer Maori arrived three h'ours late, having experienced a rough trip with heavy hail and sleet squalls. OAMARU, Friday. The first snow this winter was experienced at Oamaru last evening. It was about an inch deep in the town, and heavier in the back country. The weather to-day is cold and sunny. Snow, which was in the town, disappeared by noon. DUNEDIN, Friday. There h'as been a heavy, widespread snowstorm throughout the Dunedin district, the fall lyixig two inches thick around the city.
