WELLINGTON, Wednesday. Rumours are current that the High Commissioner in London is not desirous of continuing in office at the close of his present term

and has requested the Government to release him for return to New Zealand. The Prime Minister stated today in reply to a question that he has Iiad no communication from Sir Thos. Wilford on the subject, and the matter of

extending the term of his appointment or making a new appointment has not been considered. Sir Thomas Wilford's appointment is due to expire at theend of this year.
