WEEKLY MEETING Mr. W. Burnett was in the ehair at the usual weekly meeting of thc Opotiki Rugby Union Committee ori Monday night. Messrs E. Webb, C. Shalfoon, F. Short, S. Jephson, C. Morris, E. Edwards and C. Simmons (sec.) were also present. The secretary reported that he had interviewed S. Brown re his accident claim. Brown reported that his hand had been hurt in a match prior to June 3 • and that it had been stood on in a subsequent match. It had been hurt so seriously that he had been unable to do ordinary work and he therefore claimed £1 a week accident compensation for three weeks. It was decided to allow the claim. Parata Cup The chairman suggested that the Apanui team should be asked if they woulj come to Opotiki to play for the Parata Cup on Saturday next i,istead of Opotiki going to Te Kaha. He advised that the Bay of Plenty Union was agreeable to this and also to the Apanui team being given the whole of the gate money. It was decided that if Apanui would not come to Opotiki, the match should go to them by default as it would cost Opotiki too much to travel to Te Kaha. The secretary got into touph with Te Kaha and explained the situation but after two lengfchy telephone conversations the Apanui team decided that they would not come to Opotiki, and Opotiki decided to lose the match by default, Permission was granted to the O.M.P. (Mr. J. Edwards) to accept a challenge from the Patutahi Club (Gisborne). Fixtunes For Saturday Seniops : It was decided that if possible a match' should be arranged with Rangitaiki for Saturday afternoon and that if this could not be done, a pombined team from the three other elubs should play O.M.P. Juniors : — O.M.P. v. High Sehool, at Reserve (Mr, Seville).
