FINDING STOLEN CARS
PARIS POLICE EFFICIENT. Paris, with far fewer automobiles in operation than New York, has less of a problem in the theft of stolen cars. And the Paris police are proud of their record of recovery. There were 2394 cars stolen last year out of 220,000 in operation and of these 1416 were recovered. The number of stolen cars rose sharply in 1931, however, for there were but 700 stolen during the preceding year out of a registered total of 180,000. In New York, during the last two months of 1931, there were 2144 cars reported stolen — nearly as many as Paris reported for the whole year.
