COMMUNIST GAINS
(Press. Assn.-
DEADLOCK PROBABLE
— By Telegraph — Copyright).
Rec. August 1, 8.50 p.m. LONDON, Monday. The Times Berlin correspondent says that comparison of the average results with the State elections, shows that the polling has brought the Communists notable gains, and has almost stopped the Nazi advance. The Communists almost recouped the total losses of 1930 State elections, but the Nazis, who advanced by leaps and bounds from 18.3 of the total votes in 1930 to 35.7 in the State elections gained only two per cent. Further, the combined Right Party obtained only 45 per cent., compared with 49 per cent. in the Prussian election. Unless the Government is able to win the co-operation of or at least the toleration of the Centre and Bavarian People's Pai'ty, or the Communists are suppressed, the same deadlock will be reached as in the Prussian Diet.
