HUGE CROWD WATCHES GRAMD PARADE OF ATHLETES

Rec. July 31, 5.5 p.m. LOS ANGELES, Saturday. There was an attendance of 105,000 at the opening- of the Olympic games this afternoon by the United States vice-President, Mr. Charles Curtis. Greek athletes headed the grand parade, followed by the Argentinans, with the Australians next, dressed all in green, and then came the other nations in order of nationality. Two thousand athletes from 29 countries took part in the procession. Mr. Curtis's opening speech, occupied only 26 words: "In the name of the President of the United States, 1 proclaim open the Olympic Games of Los Angeles, celebrating the Tenth Olympiad of the modern era."
