Deer-Stalkers' Succtess. Local deer-stalkers have beeh fairly successfiil of late, several parties haying secured stags. No especially good heads h'ave been obtained. Jordan, Labpur M.P., for Manakau who, apcording to advice received by the local branch of the Labour Representation Committee is •expected here on August 8. He will probably address a meeting of the Labour Party during his stay. Interesting Case Coming On. Court dayj on August 10 should be something . of a field day in Rotorua for in addition to several charges of breaches of the Gaming Act, it is understood - that two residents of Whakarewarewa will face, in consequenee of a poliea raid, charges of breaches of the Licensing Act.

Plaintiff's Case Succeeds. In the case of "Butler v. Stevens a claim for wages which came before Mr. S. L. Paterson at the last sitting of the Rotorua S,M. cqurt his worship yesterday entered judgment for plaintiffs for £137 4s lOd, with costs amounting to .£22 5s 6d. Mr. R. A. Potter appeared for the plaintiff and Mr. E. Roe for the defendant. More People Travellmg. / During. the past few weeks it has been noticeable that a steady increase in the- number of people, travelling has occurred. Speaking to a "Morning Post" representative this morning an official of one of the service car companies remarked that his firm's cars were carrying more passengers than was qsual for tKis time of the year. Visitors to Rotorua. To-morrow afternoon, the 35 members and officials of the English' touring Rugby League team at present playing matches in the Dominion will arrive in Rotorua hy car and will stay at Brent's Bathgate House. During the five days the team will be in Rotorua, the visitors will be conducted round the many scenic attraetions of the district and they will then leave for a tour of the South Island. Presentation at Arawa Park. At 2.45 this afternoon, at Arawa Park, the Governor-General's trophy in the Imperial Challenge Shield comp'etition will he presented by Colonel J. Duigan, D.S.O., officer commanding the northern command, to the Rotorua Volunteer Cadet Corps, which has won the trophy for the present year. The presentation will he made outside the members' stand, in the interval between the junior and senior Rugby matches.Many Australian Visitors. Despite the finanCial situation' in Australia the number of tourists from that country' visiting Rotorua and the thermal regions generally, is stated by one of the largest agencies to be considerably in excess of normal periods during the last ,few weeks.
