STRIKE ENDED
MEN NOW RETURNING TO WORK AT RUAWARO CAMP HAMILTON, Tuesday. After a duration of only three days, the "strike" of single men at the Ruawaro relief camp appears to be definitely ended. Twelve of the 53 men who left the camp on Friday afternoon have returned, and it is probable that the camp will be almost at "full strength by the end of this week. Those men who had already returned recommenced work yesterday It is pointed out that the discontent among the men was due chiefly to strife caused hy four strangers who entered the camp during the absence of officials and addressed the men, urging them to abandon the camp. It is recognised that there are several points on which the men have cause for grievance. In response to representations by Mr. M. J. Savage, M.P , the acting-Minister of Employment, the Hon. Aj Hamilton, stated that the matter of remedying the eonditions in the camp was heing considered by the Unemployment Board and the Public Works Department and that arrangements would be made to have any representations considered.
