LEANING TOWER OF PISA

ITS "TOURISTIC" VALUE. The commission appointed to fexamine the condition of the Leaning Tower of Pisa has presented its rereport. The work of reinforcing the foundations of the tower is being continued. The commission states that although the inclination of the eampanile continues very slowly, there is no danger of a collapse owing to tha solid nature of the building. There is no suggestion of restoring the tower to the perpendicular, as it would then lose its artistic and "touristic" value. Should the tower collapse it would be restored with the same materials, as was done in the case of the campanile at Venice. The tower, ; in the opinion of th'e commission, is "good for another 50 years."
