BLOTTING PAPER

FOR AIRTIGHT JOINTS. Blotting paper is an excellent material for making an airtight joint when bolting a carburetter on to its flange. As it is very soft and compressible. it beds down well into any irregularities in the surface, and will work fairly well even if used dry. It is better, however, to coat each side with gold size or shellac varnish. To cut the washer to the right size the well known method of placing a sheet over the flange and tapping the outline with a hammer is the best.
