LAMP THROWN THROUGH WINDOW OF BOOT STOKE. , SYDNEY, July 14. A lamp thrown through the window of Fay's Store in Liverpool Street — then a scatter of children with shoes and slippers; ehases and arrests. The lamp was taken from some nearby excavations in Liverpool St. It erashed through the window, leaving a hole big enough for a person to crawl through'. The report of breaking glass attracted a numher of youngsters and they immediately made a rush for the exposed footwear. A constable on beat duty telephoned headquarters and a squad of polieemen arrived in time to see the youngsters running down Pitt Street. Detectives Head and Buckley overtook them in an adjoining lane, where they found a numher of slippers and shoes. WIio Threw Lamp,? A numher of people questioned were at variance as to who threw the lamp. One witness stated that a man, .acting alone, picked up the lamp, clamly walked up to Fay's, and threw it through the window. Others stated that the window was broken as the result of a drunken brawl.
