Rotorua Lodge No. 153. Members of the Lodge Rotorua, No. 153 will attend a ehurch service at the Methodist Church to-morrow evening and members are to assemble at the R.M. building at 6.50 p.m. An advertisement appears in this issue. Warbrick at Rotary The speaker at the usual weekly luncheon of the Rotorua Rotary Glub on Monday next will he Mr. Alfred Warbrick, who will take as his subject "From the Birth of Rotorua to the Present Day — with Special reference to the possibility of a renewal of Thermal Activity." Governor-General's Trophy Definite advice has been received by Staff Sergeant-Major W. Bates, that the Governor-General's trophy, won by the Rotorua Volunteer Cadetsin the Imperial Challenge Shield comP'etition, will be presented to the company hy Colonel J. Duigan, D.S.O., offieer commanding the Northern Command, at Arawa Park next Saturday, July 30. Methodist President Amongst recent visitors to Rotorua was th's Rev. M. A. Rugby Pratt, president of the Methodist Conferenee, who came north from Christchurch to open a new church at Hastings which replaces the one destroyed in last year's earthquake. On Thursday evening the members of the Rotorua Methodist Church tendered a welcome to Mr. Pratt when Rev. W. H. Speer presided and duly welcomed and introduced the visitor. Ven. Archdeacon Chatterton also welcomed Mr. Pratt on behalf of the other churches and recalled former happy associations with him in other parts of the Dominion. Mr. Pratt suitahly replied and deli'vered a well reasoned address on "The Meaning! of the Church for Human Life." He pointed out its, necessity, by reason of th'e restraints it places upon toil and how it constantly sustains and encourages all that makes for better and happier living. During the evening the anthems "Seek Ye the Lord" and "Sun of My Soul" were rendered by the choir under the baton of Mr. J. T. Dixon. Songs hy Mrs Wood "Come unto Him" (Messiah) and Mrs Speer, "The Promise of Life" also added greatly to the enjoyment of the evening. At the close of the meeting supper was dispensed by the Ladies Guild.
