INTERESTING COMPARISON. The following report of an English clearing sale published in a Home paper is interesting as a comparison for pric'es. The sale took place approximately five weeks ago at Kirklevington, in the north riding of Yorkshire: — I "Farm stock sale. — Messrs. R. and
W. Hedley, F.A.I., held a very suci cessful sale of farming stock for Mr. ! John Atkinson, who is retiring from | farming. Mr. Atkinson is the son of the late Mr. Thomas Atkinson, who was very well known in the Danby, Castleton and Fryup district, and afterwards for many years farmed on Spital Flat Farm, Yarm. Mr. John Atkinson commenced farming on the Clock House Farm, Yarm, some thirty-six years ago, removing six years later to Town Farm, Kirklevington, where he has since conducted his farming operations very successfully. The feature of the sale was the fine condition of the horses, which realised the following prices: — 8 y.o. gelding, 24 guineas; 6 y.o. mare, 46 guineas; 5 y.o. gelding, 482; guineas; 4 y.o. mare, 44 guineas; 3 y.o. gelding, 51 guineas. Dairy cows made from £18 to £23; fat heifers, £20 to £24-; fat bullocks, £17/10/to £23/10/-; grazing cattle, £13 to £14/15/-; stirks, £4 to £6; calves, 50s to 60s. A large field of implements made satisfaetory prices, among which may be mentioned a hay elevator, £46; self-binder, £12; grass cutters, £11 and £9; horse rake, £9; plough, £4/5/-; eoup carts, . £7 to £8/10/-; rolley, £9/10/-; and milk float/ £6/5/-. Gears — cart saddles, 25/- to 42/6; collar and hames, 10/- to 27/-; and head collars, 5/6 to 10/-."
