MONEY IN LUCERNE

That there is money in lucerne was demonstrated to a Hasting Tribune representative when, in conversa'tion with a Pukaku farmer, he stated that he had sold 19i tons of lucerne hay off one cut of an 18-acre p'addqck. The price received for the hay' was £5 10s per ton on trucks, leaving £4 a ton nett. The usual custom is to cut lucerne- at least three times in the season; therefore a stand of this valuable fodder is a good asset to farmers.
