Trout Fry. There are abouf one and a half million trout fry ip. the Ngongotaha hatcheries at the present time. It is expected that about half of this number will be read/ for liberation by the end of July. .. Unlighted Cycle's. Rotorua/seems particularly proflific of cycles minus lights at night, and mope than one citizeri rec3ntly has ..heen run into. The local authorities have datermined to put down this dangerous practice, and the appearance of a number of oifenders in the local court will probably be the sequel to a raid by the inspector last night. Recorded in Rotorua It is interesting to note that. the earthquake which was severely felt i.n the southern districts of the North Island on Tuesday afternoon was recorded by the Jagger Earthquake recorder recently installed in the Rotorua High School. The record showed a definite earth movement at about the time the 'quake occurred, but no direction was indicated. Improving the School Grounds In order to supply additional shelter and to iipprove the appearance of the Rotorua Primary School grounds, it is the intention of the Rotorua School Committee to plant a hedge round the north and south boundaries of the playing areas, and tbe assistance of the Education Department is also being sought towards the cost of re-tarring the playing areas and paths. Wool in Road Surfacing. M-embers of the Marlborough Sheepownei-s' Union, in response to a request made to them, have donated, says the Express, a quantity of rough wool sufficient for the purpose of an -experiment in road surfacing. The Maidborough County Council has agreed to carry out the experiment. Mr A. C. Clarke commented on the ideal situation of the clinic and said that the committee's thanks in . this direction were due to Dr. L. A. Lewis. Floor covering and electric heaters have recently been provided giving the dental and waiting rooms a ■ very comfortable appearance. Not Possible at Present The principle of treating children under six years of age, as a result of the raising of the school entrance age by one year, was considered by the committee of the Rotorua Dental Clinic on Monday evening last, and it was decided that for the present time the treatment of these chldren be not undertaken.
