A motor van, ■ driven at a ' fast pace, was passing down the street ' when, without any apparent warning, it turned right-handed into Haupapa Street. Two following cars jammed on all brakes and managed to pull up 1 within a few inches of the van. The subsequent wrang'le interested the passers-by. Tuis In Towb The tui usually is a shy bird which prefers to sound its rich note in forest fastnesses. During the past few ' months, however, p'assers-by and rasidents of Hinemoa Street have been charmed by the notes of two of these rare birds which had made their home in a gum tree on one of the street frontages. They seem, however, to have disappeared suddenly and have not been seen or heard for the last two weeks. Drysdale Cup Matches. Thompson) that the Railways Board h'as decided that the manure store at present being erected in the station yard adjoining Fenton Street shall be painted cream. What the intentions of the armed individual might have been are not known, but the driver did not wait to inquire. He stepped on the accelerator and broke all speed records for ten miles or so. 1 On investigating the remains of his pipe, he discovered that the bullet had glanced off and lodged in the hood of his car.
