Speaking at the Rotary Ciub luncheon yesterday, Sir Heaton Rhodes said that it had been hoped to depict the farming pursuits of the country in some of the new stamps to be issued and designs had been submitted of cows, but he said these had been discarded as the drawings did not do justice to the class of stock produced in the country. Fishing Season. A reeommendation that there should be no alteration in the opening and clbsing date of the trout-fishing season was made at -the annual meeting of the Putaruru branch of the Auckland Acclimatisation Society last week. It was stated that information had been received from expert fishermen that fish not yet spawned had been taken in the last days of November, while fish ready to spawn had been taken in March. It was recommended that trolling be permitted on Arapuni Lake either from pulling or power boats one mile upstream from the dam. It was stated that there would be only a limited number of power boats operating and the number of fishermen was not sufficient to deplete the fish.
