(Press. Assn.-

ON EMPRESS OF BRITAIN

— By Telegraph — Copyright).

Rec. July 18, 9.30 p.m. OTAWA, Monday. While the Empress of Britain was at sea, a minor blaze started by a fused electric wire in a room on the ship on Sunday night, threatened to create a panic. This was cheelced only by the presence of mind of Mr. Stanley Baldwin. Toward the end of the usual concert, smoke was seen curling from near the stage. Mr. Baldwin, presiding, announced quietly: "That ends the programme." The crowded room emptied without disorder, and the fhe was soon extinguished.
