AFPLICATIOM TO BE MADE FOR SECOND DENTAL NURSE. GENERAL BUSINESS. The monthly meeting of the Opotiki school committee was held in the secretary's rooms on Tuesday evening. There were present: Messrs. E. A. Payne (chairman), R, H. Semple, F. Cave, J. II. Parlcinson, J. Mansell, W. Burrett, W. Anderson, and C. Cave (secretary). A letter was received from Mr. N. V. Hodg'son suggesting that the , remaining oak tree adjacent to the school playing field sliould be cut down as it was a source of potential danger in case of heavy wind. It was decided to cut the tree down. The secretary said he had been requested to point out to the committee the danger of accident incurred by school children walking over the roadway of the Waioeka bridge. It was decided that the secretary shouid write to the headmaster and request him to draw the attention of the children to the danger of the practice. The following is a copy of a letter received by the school committee, which will be of interest to all parents of children concerned. "Having had the dental nurse for a little over two months now, the outside schools will no doubt he wondering when their turn i\ll come for treatment. "According to regulations which have to be adhered to stvictly, all the primers at the main school, that is Opotiki, will have to be completed before any outside school is touehed. This must necessarily take time, and in order to expedite matters so that all children at present eligible may receive treatment, i.e. primer classes, the dental ciinic committee intends applying for another nurse for a period of six months only. "If a child now in primer 3 or 4 is not treated this year, it automatically becomes barred for any treatment next year, and to avoid that we desire the co-operation of your committee in applying for an extra nurse. "Your contribution or guarantee on a pro rata hasis will he £ for £, not including the usual charge of 2/6 per child."
