MRS. EARHART PUTNAM BREAKS THE TRANSCGNTIMENTAL RECORD.

NEW YORK, Thursday. The lone Atlantic flyer, Mrs. Amelia Earhart Putnam, landed at Newai-k (N.J.) at 11.28 a.m. on Wednesday from Los Angeles, establishing a women's transcontiuental record with an elapsed time of 19hrs 17mins, bettering Mrs. Ruth Nichols' time by almost 10 hours. Mrs. Putnam intended to do a non-stop flight, but made a forced landing at Columbus (Ohio) owing to trouble with the fuel feed.
