R.S.A. DANCE
. EVENING AT MANAWAHE A very enjoyable dance was held at Manawahe hall under the auspices of the Whakatane R.S.A. Considerable trouhle and care was taken by the ladies' committee in the decorations of the hall. A beautiful array of "large palm ferns was spaeed around the walls while green and red streamers were suspended from a multicolouted howl of cut streamers in the centre of the ceiling to all parts of the room. The weather was ideal for dancing and the orchestra excellent. During the evening extras were played by Miss E. D. Tily and Mr R. A. Howell, while numerous cOmpetitions were held including the novel statue waltz. The results of the competitions were as
follows: First statue waltz, Mrs L. Martin and J. Stitchbury, 1; Miss J. Baird and Mr. J. Greenwood 2. Second statue waltz: Miss Tily and Mr. S. Rogers 1; Miss J. Baird and Mr. J. Greenwood 2. Monte Carlo: Miss 0. Tunnichffe and Mr. J. Rendall 1, Mrs F. W. Johnsen and Mr. Piggales 2. Mr and Mrs L. Wylie 3. A waltzing competition was won by Miss C. Tunnicliffe and Mr. J. Rendall. Among those present were: — Mrs De Lacey (lemon satin beaute), Mrs. L. Wylie (black marocain), Mrs. F. Johnsen ('emerald green satin), Mrs McConnell (flowered ninon), Mrs R. Erskine (navy silk marocain), Mrs. D. Kane (powder blue crepe de chine),
Mrs V. Joyce (shell pink satin), Mrs L. Martin (shell pink crepe de chine) Mrs J. Plamus (eoin spot satfn), Miss E. D. Tily (Ivory satin), Miss Baird (floral crepe de chine), Miss S. Baird (blue crepe de chiiie), Miss Joyce Freeman (shell pink taffeta) Miss Fay Freeman (red satin), Miss June Puckey (peacoek blue satin beaute), Miss Mavis Theobald (rose taffeta), Miss R. Rendall (flame georgette), Miss M. , Farrelly (rose pink satin beaute) Miss . H. Latham (black satin), Miss E. Rimmer (brown silg marocain) , Miss G. Davis (green georgette trimmed with gold Ihce), Miss L. Rendall (figured crepe de chine), Miss Olga Rimmer (green floral voile), Miss I. Coffin (flame satin), Miss C. Tunnieilffe (red satin), Miss V. Sisley (mauve satin beaute), Miss McElivee (white crepe de chine).
