HAMILTON, Saturday. Five weeks have elapsed since work ceased in the Waika'to mines, and it is estimated that during that time the men have lost over £25,000 in wages. The losses incurred by the coal companies, although not ascertainable, are serious, as th6 strike has occurred at a time when orders for coal are more substantial than at any other period of the year. Huntly railway station is said to be the greatest revenue-producing station in New Zealand, all the coal produced from the five mines dnd the briquettes from the carboni'sation works passing through this Station before distfibution. During the five weeks the stoppage has been in progress the Railway Department has lost £44,000 in revenue.
