A NEW ERA
(Press. Assn.-
general satisfaction
— By Telegraph — Copyright).
Rec. July 9, 5 p.m. LONDON, Saturday While the whole of the British press hails the Lausanne agreement as the beginning of a new era by removing a serious obstacle to economic restoration, it is recognised that Germany has most cause for satisfaction, as the allies are still saddled with heavy debts to America. The Washington announcement of America's willingness to consider individual nations' debts is therefore, welcome, even more than the Lausanne agreement. His Majesty telegraphed congratulations to Mr. McDonald. The Stock Exchange is firm all round on the strength of the, Lausanne agreement. British furids have advanced about 2 per cent. Commonwealth 5 per cent. stocks stand at £103 15s.
